Hurting Heart

So I’ve been a bad blogger and haven’t been updating my site as much as I should be, and I know there is no excuse. But I do have a reason. Between schoolwork, actual work, friends needing my help with things, and trying to find time to write and do artwork, I completely ignored the notifications on my calendar. Balancing time between things is not one of my strong suits, and I am working on it.

On to what I really wanted to talk about. Now, I have just started another design class and I am enjoying myself with this one. Pictures and perspectives, and learning how to work all of that together in really interesting to me, and fun for me to play with! However, when there is something good that happens in life, there seems to always be something that isn’t as fun that goes right along side it.

Along with everything else in my life that is rough right now, and will be for a while, I recently learned that one of my stress relieving things that I have come to rely on for survival is no longer going to be an option for me. I am loosing my lease to the horse I have been riding, not because anything is wrong with him, but because his person is moving. I didn’t realize how much I had come to love his drama queen personality till I learned I wouldn’t be working with him for the long term.

Now, this is sad, but there are things that I can learn from this and share with anyone who takes the time to read this blog. Yeah, I am really going to miss him, and the influence that he has had on all aspects of my life. He is super fun, and that is going to be something sad to not have anymore, but knowing what I do now, I would still have leased him and bonded with him even knowing that I would have to let him go.

Like my poster on my wall says, dance like nobody’s watching, sing like nobody’s listening, and love like you’ve never been hurt. There is no reason to not do that, be it with people, or animals, or even a book that you pick up off the shelf.

Another thing I’ve learned is that everyone, even animals, who you let into your life leave their fingerprints on you, and it’s not a bad thing. It’s worth it.

So yeah, I hope that your week and month go well! My art and writing pages are going to be having an update here pretty soon so stay tuned for that!

Design Classes Clash with Life

Hey Wyn here again! It’s that time again, to post on my blog! I’m excited about quite a few things right now and wanted to share them with you in the hopes that something I say can be encouraging! Right now I’m dealing with an unexpected increase of hours when it comes to my homework, friends and family who really need my time and support, and characters who want me to ignore the rest of the world and write their stories without giving me the time to eat.

Design and art classes take a lot of time. This was something I knew in my head, in the ether of my understanding, but the stark reality of how long assignments take has hit me, making me reorder my life for my current class. It never ceases to amaze me just how much time is required to get done what I need to do. For most of my life I have done art, but it’s been on a casual basis, and converting that to more of a professional basis is a really big leap that I don’t feel like I’m ready for, but I’m doing anyway. I would encourage anyone who’s in a similar place in their life to jump for it. It’s totally worth the risk.

It never ceases to amaze me how when one thing in my life starts requiring time, all the other pieces do too. Thankfully it’s a good thing, and is working to make me grow as a person. Though it is stressful, I’m learning a lot, and hopefully some of it will start appearing on my site soon! Next week I’m going to be designing a logo for myself, so I’m hoping that I will be able to post it on this site soon!

Many thanks to all of you who read this post. I appreciate you spending the time. If you’re not on my mailing list, you may want to join and please do!

College classes and writing

Wow I haven’t written here in a while. I guess that’s what college classes can do to life. I hope every one of you are doing well in where you are in life! So this post is going to be a short one, mostly talking about my struggles with balancing college classes, art, and writing. I love and enjoy all three, but I am becoming increasingly aware of the struggles of the balancing act I am in the middle of.

College is a really amazing opportunity and I am so glad that I am able to go and be a part of it. What classes I am taking will eventually give me the ability to work with Graphic Design, something I am looking forward to. These classes though have been taking up a lot of my time and energy, which I gather is common for college students. One thing that I am able to do, and would encourage other online students to do is schedule days that are work days for me, so that I have time set aside for fun things to do as a reward for my work. So far it has been a good way of doing things!

Art is something that is very hard to do when I’m tired, and I have the sneaking suspicion that I am not alone. Because of this, I have decided to pull back and only commit to posting a very limited amount of work per month, taking the burden of expectation off of my shoulders so that my balancing act is easier. I would encourage people like me who are balancing many different things to do something similar so that they can avoid overwhelming themselves.

Writing is the hardest of the three by far. I love to write, but doing assignments every week makes being creative hard. That being said, I have several different new characters who are rattling around in my head, demanding for their stories be told. But when I sit down to write, I find it hard and can’t pick a place to start, which is why I am starting to look for some good prompts to use. I figure that maybe if I bent one or more of those to my story, I would have the jump start that I need. Pinterest is one place where I keep finding interesting prompts to use.

That is all for this post, thanks for reading and I hope you have a really good week ahead of you!
