Summer and Smoke

Wyn here again!

I hope you all are being safe and having fun this summer. In my area that intails avoiding the smoke and sometimes finding alternate activities instead of what was planned. Super fun and good practice being flexible, but hard after a while. It’s hard to figure out what to do when stuck inside for over a week. For me this means cleaning my room, homework, art, and of course writing.

Lately my writing has been focused into one story, and I’ve been making a lot of headway with it, which is odd for me, but hey, it’s working. It’s been fun having one character to research things for instead of a whole cast of them, and overall it’s been a whole lot less overwelming. I think that right now, focusing on only one main character is really helping me be successful in both my writing and everything else I have to do in my life.

Because of this focus, I’ve been looking for character profiles on the web that I can use to expand my grasp on my characters. This has been intersting because I’ve heard several different opinions on the usefulness of them. Some people find them hugely helpful, and a great resource to fall back on, other people say that they are a distraction. I personally think that it depends how they are used. I use mine to help me keep focus on my story and gather more information about the little darlings who populate the worlds I have.

If you are working on a story or a character, I’d advise you to find what works with you, and run with it! Everyone’s creative process is different, and there is no right way to do it, as long as you don’t give up. And also share what you do! Just make sure to take comments with a grain of salt.

Hope you guys have a good end to your summer,

Here’s a couple links to different character forms that I’ve found interesting —

Hurting Heart

So I’ve been a bad blogger and haven’t been updating my site as much as I should be, and I know there is no excuse. But I do have a reason. Between schoolwork, actual work, friends needing my help with things, and trying to find time to write and do artwork, I completely ignored the notifications on my calendar. Balancing time between things is not one of my strong suits, and I am working on it.

On to what I really wanted to talk about. Now, I have just started another design class and I am enjoying myself with this one. Pictures and perspectives, and learning how to work all of that together in really interesting to me, and fun for me to play with! However, when there is something good that happens in life, there seems to always be something that isn’t as fun that goes right along side it.

Along with everything else in my life that is rough right now, and will be for a while, I recently learned that one of my stress relieving things that I have come to rely on for survival is no longer going to be an option for me. I am loosing my lease to the horse I have been riding, not because anything is wrong with him, but because his person is moving. I didn’t realize how much I had come to love his drama queen personality till I learned I wouldn’t be working with him for the long term.

Now, this is sad, but there are things that I can learn from this and share with anyone who takes the time to read this blog. Yeah, I am really going to miss him, and the influence that he has had on all aspects of my life. He is super fun, and that is going to be something sad to not have anymore, but knowing what I do now, I would still have leased him and bonded with him even knowing that I would have to let him go.

Like my poster on my wall says, dance like nobody’s watching, sing like nobody’s listening, and love like you’ve never been hurt. There is no reason to not do that, be it with people, or animals, or even a book that you pick up off the shelf.

Another thing I’ve learned is that everyone, even animals, who you let into your life leave their fingerprints on you, and it’s not a bad thing. It’s worth it.

So yeah, I hope that your week and month go well! My art and writing pages are going to be having an update here pretty soon so stay tuned for that!
